Occlusion with Dr. Marian Grynchev in Mladost 1, Sofia

Occlusion care at MG Dental Clinic is led by Dr. Marian Grynchev, founder and lead dentist. The aim is a stable, comfortable bite, explained before treatment starts.

What occlusion is

Occlusion is the contact between the upper and lower teeth during biting, speaking, and chewing. It also involves the jaw joints and the muscles that move the jaw.

When the contact is uneven, some teeth take more force than others. The clinic’s existing approach looks at that pattern before planning rehabilitation of worn teeth.

Who this consultation is for

People often come because something in the bite no longer feels even, or because teeth, muscles, or the jaw joint have started to complain. Pain is not always the first sign.

  • Worn or flattened teeth
  • Jaw pain, clicking, or limited opening
  • Headaches or muscle tension
  • Grinding or clenching
  • Sensitive or chipped teeth
  • Fillings, crowns, or other restorations that keep breaking

How the bite is assessed

The visit starts with what you have noticed and a clinical examination of the teeth, chewing muscles, and jaw joints.

Contacts between the teeth and the way you chew are then analysed. When a fuller picture is needed, the same established protocols already used in the clinic help record centric relation and the position of the lower jaw.

A splint is not automatic. When one is useful, it is made for that person, to spread force, protect worn teeth, or steady the joint.

What you can expect

The sequence is discussed with you. Nothing below is a promise of a result or a fixed timetable.

  1. 01

    Consultation

You describe what feels wrong. Dr. Marian Grynchev explains what the examination can and cannot show.

  2. 02

    Examination

Teeth, muscles, and jaw joints are examined, including how the mouth opens and where it is tender.

  3. 03

    Analysis

Contacts and chewing function are mapped so the plan is based on the bite, not only on a single tooth.

  4. 04

    The plan, before treatment

Findings and options are explained first. You decide whether to go ahead.

  5. 05

    Care that matches the findings

That may be a protective or repositioning splint, or a longer rehabilitation when teeth are worn and the jaw joints are part of the problem.

Questions patients ask

It can be. Jaw joints and chewing muscles often hurt when the teeth do not meet evenly, but pain has other causes too. The examination is how we see whether occlusion is part of it.
